About the Project
Project Overview
TraintoAdapt is a personal training business serving clients across Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth, and Southampton in South England. As Head of Web and Operations, I partner with CEO Adam Shergold to build and maintain the platform, a role that spans well past the initial build into ongoing operations, SEO, and client experience, the kind of relationship where the work never really has a final delivery date, just a continuous stream of improvements.
The website features a multi-tier service structure, integrated booking system, client portal with Memberpress, and seamless communication tools, all built on WordPress with custom functionality. Nothing here was assembled from off-the-shelf plugins alone, each piece was built to fit how TraintoAdapt actually operates across four service areas rather than forcing the business to adapt to a generic template, since a personal training business selling in-person sessions across multiple cities has genuinely different structural needs than a typical local service site.
Since the initial launch, the platform has gone through real iteration rather than staying static. V1 established the core service presentation and booking flow, and V2 added a full Memberpress account system, moving the site from a marketing presence into an actual client management platform clients log into and use, a shift that changed what the site fundamentally was, not just how it looked.
Working directly with Adam as CEO meant every decision, from service tier structure to payment flow, was grounded in how the business actually operates day to day, not built around assumptions about what a personal training site should generically look like.
The Issue
The personal training industry lacks accessible, affordable digital platforms that connect trainers with clients. Many trainers rely on social media or word-of-mouth without a professional web presence to showcase services, manage bookings, or track clients, leaving a real gap between how established the training itself is and how professional the digital experience around it feels. That gap matters more than it might seem, since a potential client evaluating a trainer often has no way to judge credibility beyond a social media profile that wasn't built for that purpose.
TraintoAdapt needed a comprehensive digital ecosystem that could handle service bookings, client management, payment processing, and content delivery, while being easy enough for trainers to manage independently. That last constraint mattered as much as any feature list, a platform too complex for Adam to operate day to day would just become another thing to manage rather than a tool that actually saved time, and a training business doesn't have the bandwidth to become a part-time web development team just to keep its own site running.
Key Objectives
Build a professional, responsive website that showcases training services across South England.
Implement an integrated booking and consultation scheduling system.
Create a secure client portal for accessing workout programs and tracking progress.
Optimize for search engines to rank on page 1 of Google for target keywords.
Integrate payment processing through Stripe for seamless transactions.
Design a platform that scales with the business and supports ongoing content updates.
My Role & Impact
Website Architecture
Build and maintain traintoadapt.co.uk using WordPress with custom themes and functionality, tailored to a multi-city, multi-tier service business rather than a generic template.
Platform Iterations
Rolled out V1 in January 2025 and V2 with a full Memberpress account system in September 2025, moving the site from a marketing presence into a real client management platform.
SEO Strategy
Implemented SEO optimization to rank traintoadapt.co.uk on page 1 of Google, driving organic client acquisition across all four service areas rather than relying on paid traffic alone.
Ongoing Operations
Manage Stripe transactions, client requests, and third-party service relationships, continuously improving the platform based on real client feedback rather than treating launch as the finish line.
The Process
- Assessed TraintoAdapt's needs and designed information architecture for service tiers, locations, and booking flows before any development began, since a multi-city, multi-tier service business needed a structure that could represent all of that clearly without overwhelming a first-time visitor trying to figure out which service actually applied to them.
- Built V1 of the website on WordPress with custom responsive design and booking integration, establishing the core service presentation and consultation scheduling that the business could start using immediately, rather than waiting for every future feature to be ready before anything went live.
- Implemented an SEO strategy targeting local search terms across South England service areas, and integrated Stripe for payment processing and automated transaction management, turning the site from a digital brochure into something that could actually handle real bookings and real payments end to end without manual follow-up for every transaction.
- Rolled out V2 featuring a full Memberpress account system for client login, workout access, and progress tracking, then continued maintaining and updating the platform based on client feedback and business needs, since the relationship didn't end at launch, it shifted into ongoing iteration shaped by how real clients were actually using the site.
The Solution
TraintoAdapt now has a fully operational digital platform that handles everything from discovery to client retention, with professional service presentation, automated booking, secure payment processing, and a member portal that keeps clients engaged. What started as a marketing site became a genuine operational backbone for the business, the kind of platform that runs day to day rather than sitting static after launch, handling the parts of the business that used to depend entirely on manual coordination between Adam and each individual client.
The SEO strategy successfully positioned TraintoAdapt on page 1 of Google, driving organic client acquisition across four cities in South England. The platform continues to evolve with ongoing updates and feature additions, reflecting a relationship that's stayed active well past the original build rather than ending once the site went live, which is really the point, a personal training business's digital presence isn't something you finish once, it's something that has to keep working as the business itself keeps growing.
